Summary

When astronauts blast off from the planet Mars, they leave behind Mark Watney, one of their mates, presumed dead after a fierce storm.

With only a meager amount of supplies, he must utilize his wits and spirit to find a way to survive on the hostile planet.

So, Mark's trapped on Mars and needs to figure out how to get oxygen, food, and water... and his only entertainment is a bunch of 1970s TV, disco music, and books selected by other people. By that moment, the antenna on the communication device is broken so Mark has no way to communicate with the outside world, and nobody even knows that he's alive.

Eventually, NASA figures out that Mark is alive and getting his science on in a very big way. They find a way to communicate with him using the Pathfinder, a Mars rover from the 90’s. So on Earth, members of NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring him home, while his crew mates make their own plan for a daring rescues mission.

After a lot of problems, and complications, they’ve found a way to bring him back. Mark Watney is going to return to the Earth !

To make this plan work, he needs to drive thousand kilometers to the Ares 4 site, where he'll use a ship to launch himself into space and the open arms of his crew mates, and join the Hermes.

He confronts all the problems with a lot of courage , so he can finally complete the plan.

At the end, he gets aboard the Hermes safe. After two years of loneliness, he get reunited with his astronaut buddies again, and they make together the way back home…

They’re finally coming back to Earth.
